Making Captivating Stories

Introduction

Ever wondered what is the best learning or teaching method for human intelligence? Have you ever realized what kind of data the human mind remembers easily? Human cognition is made up of visuals. Human knowledge stores most of the information in the brain as (Images). Dreams are the best proof of this. During deep sleep, our brain is flooded with visuals and imagination. Pictures are the best memory builders. Images and visuals are the cognitive methods suitable for human intelligence!

What Making Captivating Stories do?

When something is told to us as a story, it becomes deeply embedded in our memory. All of us have great interest and involvement in stories from childhood. Stories fascinate us. There is a lot of imagination in storytelling. We can imagine a lesson however we want. Because “our imagination is limitless and inexhaustible,” said Albert Einstein. And the narration involves a lot of mind-eye scenes. It is very easy for us to remember many things through visuals.

Example: when learning English grammar ( Parts of Speech ) for the first time, it is very difficult to remember the topics Noun, Pronoun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective, Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection . But as a story, there lived an English family in a town. It is called English Grammar. The name of the father of the family is Noun. Mother’s name is Verb . They had three children named Pronoun, Adverb, Adjective .The eldest son is Pronoun. He always works in place of his father. The other two are Adverb, Adjective girls. Among them, Adverb is always helping Mom. But the younger daughter Adjective loves her father more, so she always supports him. They have three staff namely Preposition, Conjunction, and Interjection .

Different Stages of Story Telling

During storytelling all six of our cognitive faculties are fully engaged. Hearing, seeing, consuming, tasting, touching, acting, all the cognitive skills are fully involved, so storytelling becomes more pleasant, easier, and deeply ingrained in our knowledge. Storytelling is a great learning method, as pictures, visuals, and imaginative resources play an important role in stories!

Turn anything into a story and tell it If we remember in form, that lesson will be deeply imprinted in our mind. For example, when learning English grammar ( Parts of Speech ) for the first time, it is very difficult to remember the topics Noun, Pronoun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective, Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection .

Another example is the nine planets in the sky ( Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter,Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto ) have an English rendition of how we remember them in order. My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets .

The story is centered around the mother. ‘My learned mother taught us all the nine planets just now visually’ helps to remember the nine planets in sequence.

Another example, angles that come in a math lesson. How are the angular forms of sine, cos, and tan transformed? All Silver Tea Cups is an English story that teaches this very easily. Changes in angles can be divided into four parts. In the first part, all angles are positive. In the second part, only sine angles are positive. In the third part, only cos angles are positive. In the fourth part, only tan angles are positive. These changes are taught to be easily memorized permanently through a narrative called All Silver Tea Cups .

Whenever we see a rainbow, our hearts are filled with joy. That’s because it’s so colorful! How many colors are there in the rainbow? What are they? Do you remember them? Can you recall them in order? We can. If VIBGYOR comes to your mind, it would have been so easy.

This is the greatness of storytelling. No matter how many years have passed, the rainbow is so easy we may remember the colors in order if we remember the narrative VIBGYOR.

Another great example of storytelling is ( The Elements of the Periodic Table ). It is very difficult to remember all the 118 elements that are included in it. But we can also remember them forever. Memorizing them

easily is a huge challenge for many of us. Many times we try and fail to remember. A list of these elements can be permanently imprinted in our minds easily by making a story. This is also possible when we learn through a story, learning also becomes sweet.

The first group of chemical elements

The list of elements is divided into seven groups. The first group consists of only two elements namely ( Hydrogen and Helium ). If we can keep these in mind, we can do it with a little storytelling. This first group of all chemical elements can be treated as analogous to the phenomenon that occurs when we meet our friends. When we greet our closest friend with ‘ Hi ‘, we can imagine a scenario where our friend greets us with ‘ Hello ‘ in return. This will be included in the first group. We can easily remember the two elements hydrogen and helium.

The second group of chemical elements

The second group consists of eight elements namely Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, and Neon . These elements can be memorized by the eight-word narrative, “The lion swam in the great burning car, like oxygen in the night.” As soon

as we think of a lion, the English word Lion comes to our mind. The Li in it should remind us of the element Lithium.

Car – Carbon , Night – Nitrogen , Oxygen – Oxygen , Like – Fluorine , Swim – Neon is reminiscent of chemical elements.

The Third group of chemical elements

The third group includes Sodium, Magnesium, Aluminum, Silicon, Phosphorus, Sulphur, Chlorine , and Argon are eight elements. These eight elements are called “Zo’s daughter Silippas Sulchlorinar”.

We can remember through storytelling. Zo – Sodium Daughter – Magnesium, Aluminium

Silippas – Silicon, Phosphorus Sulchlorinar – Sulphur, Chlorine, Argon. These Vedic elements can easily be related to the fictionalization of our friend Zoe’s daughter Silippas Sulchlorinar can be remembered sequentially in our minds.

The Fourth group of chemical elements

In the fourth group Potassium, Calcium, Scandium, Titanium, Vanadium, Chromium, Manganese, Iron, Cobalt, Nickel, Copper, Zinc, Gallium, Germanium, Arsenic, Selenium, Bromine, and Krypton are the eighteen elements that take place . We can remember these eighteen elements through the narration of ‘Police Call Security of Titanic for Vandalising Cruelly, Management Irons out and Covid is Nicely Copping with Zinc Gallary, German Arsenal Seldomn Broke the enKryption’ . We can easily associate these elements in our memory by associating them with the police and Covid.
